Marcella Lassen is an internationally known artist with shows in New York, Art Basel Miami Beach, Los Angeles, Paris, Brussels, Berlin, Munich, Vienna, Salzburg, Florenz and at Lake Zurich.

Marcella Lassen is at home in both the American and European cultural environments. These respective influences are reflected in her work, not only as an intrinsic element in her chosen content but equally as a determining quality of her signature style.

Her subject matter is icons, in the sense of persons, living things or objects which have achieved an iconic status in the industrial societies of the western world, and which as a result are venerated, even idolized. The contemporary concept of an “icon” embraces a wide spectrum, and the artist’s in-depth examination thereof simultaneously illustrates a heightened visualization of first world societies of the 21st century and the human individual in this culture.

These insights are the continuing impulse to Marcella Lassen’s evolving pictorial language, one that is characterized by figurative realism as well as a signature color palette. Her collage-like compositions are defined by a narrative approach, are occasionally dreamlike, frequently evolving into surrealism. Marcella Lassen’s visual world is intriguing and often astonishing, provoking the viewer to contemplate the reality behind the obvious in the world around him. Her paintings are well-worth seeing.
